Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring?

For most stays a small tote bag or reusable shopping bag is ideal to pack food, medications, treats, and a blanket.

My pet requires a special diet and medication daily, is this able to be accommodated?

Absolutely. There is no additional fee for administering medications.

I have multiple dogs; can they stay in the same suite?

Yes! We have large family suites available to house the whole family, and you will also receive a roommate discount.

Also note, all suite mates must be able to eat together. If separation during meals is required an additional suite must be reserved.

My dog eats their food warmed, can you do this?

Absolutely! We have a refrigerator, freezer, and microwave available.

Do you provide slow feeders?

We ask to please send a bowl if a specialized bowl such as a slow feeder is required.

What are drop off and pick up hours?

I think it is easiest to think of our hours being similar to a standard hotel. We check-in the afternoon between 4:00-5:00 and check-out is in the morning from 9:00-10:00. This allows for proper cleaning and sanitation to be completed between guests. Our lobby is closed on Saturdays for drop off/ pick ups.

I would like to check in during the morning, is that okay?

Only with prior approval, please check at the time of booking to ensure this can be accommodated. Please note a Day Camp charge will be added to your total per guest. The same applies to late check-outs.

When my dog is boarding do I have to pay for day camps for him to play during the day?

Nope. They are automatically included in on all the fun! The only time day camps would be charged is to cover early check ins or late check-outs.

Is there extra enrichment or add on packages that can be purchased to enhance the stay?

No need, our price is all inclusive to the fun. Every guest gets individual time and attention to fit their needs, no need to pay more.

Is it possible to visit the facility?

We love to meet new friends! Please call/message us to schedule a meet and greet, due to safety and security drop ins can not be accommodated. If you wish to bring your fur baby with you, we must have them completely registered with up to date vaccination records prior to entering the facility. This is for the health and safety of your pet and our other guests.

How does payment work?

Payment is due in full at pick up- card, check, or cash is accepted.

Your total will be calculated by the night and is subject to tax.

I would like to pick my dog up earlier than scheduled, will I be charged for the remaining days?

Yes, since that spot has been reserved and held for you the full payment will still be due for the original nights that were reserved.

How can I reserve a holiday stay?

You may submit a request for the appointment, once received we will either accept or decline depending upon availability. We encourage all guests needing reservations over the holidays to submit their requests as early as possible to ensure availability, as these are some of our busiest times of the year. As the holiday gets closer we will get in contact with you confirming your dates and times needed. Then, two weeks prior to your check in date a request for payment will be sent for the total of the stay. Please keep in mind this payment guarantees your holiday spot and is non-refundable. Payments not received within 3 days and no contact made will be canceled so we have time to fill the spot.

Should I bring my dog on a leash?

We ask that you bring your dog into the facility leashed, this is for safety since others will be dropping off or picking up during the same time. Once checked in you may leave the leash to be placed in their cubby for pick up or you may take it with you. Furthermore we ask you to please wait outside of the office if someone is already inside, this gives each family their time to drop off/pick up.

What is the spay/ neuter policy?

Any dog that is over the age of 6 months old and has not been altered will not be allowed in any group play. This will mean your fur baby will get extra time with the humans!

What are the vaccination requirements?

For the safety of your pet and all guests at the lodge all furry friends must be up to date on vaccinations such as Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Please send prior or bring proof of vaccinations on the day of check in.

I gave my dogs vaccinations myself, is that okay?

All vaccinations must be administered by a licensed veterinarian with documentation provided to keep on file.

Tick and Flea Policy

All guests must be free of ticks and fleas, we do not want them to be shared with friends. If a guest is found to have ticks or fleas a flea/tick bath treatment will be applied and charged to the owner.

Reminder for extended stays- if they are on a monthly treatment plan don't forget to pack their next dose!

I’m not sure if my dog will be friendly to other dogs, how is this handled?

This is not uncommon, especially being in a rural area with little dog socialization opportunities. Our goal for any stay is for each dog to leave happy and healthy. Each guest we receive is unique in their own way so that goal is achieved differently in each stay. Some of our guests thrive from being immersed in playful groups while others feel safer with primarily human interactions. We encourage every guest to be social during their stay, rather that is making new friends with 2 or 4 legs. No dog will ever be forced into a social environment due to size, age or gender.

My dog is showing aggressive tendencies, when they visit can they play with others to see if it will help?

No, by doing that it would endanger other guests. Safety is always our first priority, and any guest that shows signs of aggression will not be allowed in group play.  However this in no way means these guests receive less attention or get less outside time. Being a low numbers facility we can ensure everyone gets lots of attention

Can my dog take advantage of the Hilltop Spa during their stay?

Yes! Just let us know what services you would like at booking. Remember all guests that stay 5 or more nights receive a free Bubble Bath at the spa during their stay.

Can you clip my dog's nails?

We do not offer nail trimming. Often nail trimming can be a stressful event, and we do not want that associated with coming to stay at Sunny Slope Lodge. We aim to keep all of our guests as stress free as possible during their stay and only offer cleaning and pampering services. There are several great groomers in the area that can assist with these services.
